If working in a fast paced, well organised, diverse and highly skilled finance division, with strong career growth opportunity, is what you are after – look no further.  At Pick n Pay, our motivated and driven finance division spans across all areas of the business, both technically and operationally, supporting both our local and international markets.

 

Our group reporting team is responsible for the Group’s comprehensive suite of financial reporting, including daily, weekly, and monthly reporting, financial management accounts and the annual integrated financial statements. As a JSE listed Group there are engagement with various stakeholders both externally and internally. The purpose of the reporting function is one of decision support, providing financial intelligence and ensuring compliance where required. The team is also responsible for the preparation of operational and financial budgets for effective decision making and performance tracking. 

 

Our tax team ensures tax compliance across a broad tax legislative environment, including VAT, PAYE, corporate income tax and transfer pricing – while at the same time performing a strategic role, which incorporates tax risk management and planning.

 

In the Treasury team we ensure that every cent generated is adequately invested or applied to capital enhancements, while ensuring effective working capital management with direct and close co-operation with our transactional banking, accounts payable, accounts receivable and inventory teams.  The treasury team also looks after our Employee Share Incentives schemes.

 

Another important department is the payroll and employee benefits team that ensures that all our employees are paid on time and accurately every month.  They also ensure that the Pick n Pay Medical and Retirement Schemes are managed efficiently and effectively to ensure optimal and cost effective medical treatment and well-funded retirement savings for our employees.

 

Group Risk and Assurance Services (GRAS) assists Pick n Pay Group of companies to operate more efficiently and effectively by assisting & guiding business operations to instil and improve their governance, risk management, controls and operational processes. GRAS has a well-developed risk based audit approach and combined assurance model in place.

 

Our Corporate Procurement, Planning and Performance team ensures that we source all our operational as well as capital goods not for resale at optimum pricing, while ensuring all returns on investment in capital projects are achieved and operational efficiencies are imbedded across the group.

 

We also offer a SAICA certified CA training programme that allows candidates to rotate through most departments in finance gaining operational and practical business experience while qualifying as registered Chartered Accountants.

If you are looking for more operational involvement we have finance teams in our Store Operations, Supply Chain, Commercial and Marketing divisions that work closely with the Corporate Finance team while taking charge of the operational risks and controls of the various operating divisions of Pick n Pay.
