MEET GERTJIE, an adorable baby rhino orphaned at only 3 months old when poachers killed his mom. Follow his amazing journey as he adapts to life with his new family at the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre.

Quite the little fighter, Gertjie is recovering well from his traumatic ordeal. And with ranger Christo Schreiber always by his side, he is regaining his confidence day by day.

Gertjie will be kept safe at HESC until he is old enough to be released back into the wild. But until then, he’ll need all the help he can get to grow big and strong.

How you can help

Gertjie needs a special "milk" made up of fat-free milk powder, vitamins, glucose and water, and drinks about 12 litres a day. By dropping off fat-free milk powder in the designated trolleys at Pick n Pay Hyper stores, you’ll help HESC
