The braai master wants you!

Ever fancied yourself an on-the-fire food fundi who knows a thing or two about the perfect braai? Now's your chance to win BIG.

Sign up for chef Justin Bonello’s latest reality TV competition, ‘The Ultimate Braai Master’, sponsored by Pick n Pay. If you do, you’ll be in for a 52-day cooking adventure across South Africa and stand a chance to WIN R500,000!

“Whether you’re a student, a professional, retired or simply looking for the next big challenge, ‘The Ultimate Braai Master’ will put your passion for cooking on an open fire to the test and have contestants creating and reinventing the best braai-inspired dishes ever seen in a reality TV series,” Bonello says.

Previous television series have seen this self-taught bush cook taking viewers on a virtual road trip with 30 of his friends as they get back to the basics of food and friendship. His meals are always lovingly made from local ingredients and slowly cooked over an open fire to be enjoyed without the hassle of utensils.

However, there’s no need to feel nervous around Bonello, who admits to having produced a few flops in his day too. “Without exception, we all have flops from time to time. But, like life, food is about trying new things, making new friends and, most of all, having fun. It’s all part of the process and when it works, the rewards are sweet… or savoury!”

For The Ultimate Braai Master, Justin will be swapping friends for strangers, selecting 30 lucky contestants who will make up 15 teams of two contenders each (a Braai Master and a Braai Buddy). The teams will then join him in a gruelling 52-day culinary adventure with 13 location-based challenges spanning 8,000km of South African landscape.

Who can enter? All food lovers aged 18 and older, who consider themselves above-average cooks and who have a valid driver’s licence.

When to enter: Enter online via www.ultimatebraaimaster.com no later than Friday 27 April 2012.

Shortlisted entrants selected from the online entries will be put through their paces at three regional auditions in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg in May, where Justin – along with The Ultimate Braai Master judges – will select the final 15 teams.
