The Pick n Pay smart shopper card is issued by and remains the property of the Pick n Pay Group or any of its subsidiary or associated companies. Pick n Pay reserves the right to decline, issue and withdraw the smart shopper card at any time.

You are required to submit your valid South African ID (or for Non-South African Citizens Passport Number) to register, to switch your smart points, to change your details or manage your smart shopper card and points.

The smart shopper card is not transferable.

To earn smart points for transactions, the Pick n Pay smart shopper card must be presented at Pick n Pay points of sale in order for the transactions to be recorded. If no card is presented at point of sale before payment, smart points will not be earned for the transaction. Furthermore it is not possible to earn smart points retrospectively for transactions in the past where the smart shopper card has not been presented.

For every whole South African Rand spent on point-eligible items, a smart point will be earned. No smart points are earned on Cent amounts.

The only transactions for which you do not earn smart points are coffee shops, fuel, tobacco and tobacco related products, PnP Gift card and top up, money transfer, prescription pharmaceutical goods and third party services and payments which include, but are not limited to electricity, PnP Travel, USA Visa tokens, Axxess ADSL tokens, Hollard Insurance, U-Kash, SAA Cycle voucher, Austrian Visa tokens, Just Surf, Retail Bonds, all lottery tickets, SAA and bus tickets, Multichoice, traffic fines, Splashout Mall Cards and pension payment. Pick n Pay reserves the right at any time to exempt certain products from earning smart points at its discretion.

DiscoveryCard holders can multiply their smart shopper points by linking their smart shopper card to their DiscoveryCard with Discovery. The value of the smart shopper Multiplier is dependent on the DiscoveryCard holder’s Vitality status. Only base smart shopper points will be multiplied. Any Bonus, Double or Triple smart shopper points will not be multiplied. Terms and conditions apply.
Discovery HealthyFoodTM cardholders can also enrol in the smart shopper card programme and benefit from both programmes. Presentation and swipe of both cards is required to get the benefits of both programmes.

Smart points will be reflected on your smart shopper account within 5 days of your purchase.

Upon having collected your first 1000 smart points (subject to the 5 days period mentioned in point 8. above) you will be able to switch your smart points to cash or donate your smart points to your choice of pre-selected charity organisation. (1000 smart points are equal to R10 cash back on your card against a future purchase or to donate to charity).  You are not obliged to switch or donate smart points upon gathering 1000 smart points. You can save as many as you wish. You can only switch or donate in units of 100 smart points (equal to R1).

Smart point look-up and switching is subject to on-line availability of kiosks in store.

Pick n Pay reserves the right to change the conversion value of smart points at its discretion.

Smart points can be switched to their cash value or donated to a charity at any Pick n Pay store smart shopper kiosk within the borders of South Africa, unless otherwise stated.

Opportunities to earn extra smart points will be given at Pick n Pay’s discretion.

Smart points and money earned from smart points’ switches will be valid for 3 years. Pick n Pay reserves the right to close any smart shopper account that has been inactive (no smart points earned, switched or donated) for a period of 24 consecutive months. Smart points and money attached to closed accounts will be lost.

Smart points earned for transactions where goods are later returned will be deducted from your smart points balance on your smart shopper account.

Your Pick n Pay smart shopper card cannot be used as a credit, debit or guarantee card.

Pick n Pay reserves the right to alter or change operational conditions of the smart shopper card programme or to terminate it at any point. In the event of programme termination, smart points will remain valid for 30 days. Cash rewards held on the customer account will not be affected.

In the case of a prolonged strike or industrial action, Pick n Pay reserves the right to suspend smart points switches to cash for a period to be defined at its discretion.

Money accumulated from smart points switches remains virtual money. No customer will receive cash money from the smart shopper scheme. Monetary value is attached to the smart shopper card at which point the card assumes the function of a gift card.

A valid cell phone number, and/or postal address, and/or email address will be required from each holder of a Pick n Pay smart shopper card for all communications. No communication will be sent to phone numbers, postal addresses or email addresses outside South Africa.

We will never share your personal details with any other company unless it is entirely necessary for the operation of the smart shopper programme.

For all lost, stolen or defaced cards, contact your Customer Service Manager in-store for assistance, or the Pick n Pay Call Centre at 0800 11 22 88. You can instruct Pick n Pay to block/deactivate your lost, stolen or defaced card and request a new card.

Smart points attached to the lost/blocked/defaced card can be transferred to your new card. However, any monetary value attached to the lost/blocked card cannot be recovered. If smart points attached to the card have been switched or donated before the card is blocked, there can be no recovery of smart points value. Pick n Pay cannot be held liable for loss of smart points or monetary value.

Any abuse whatsoever of the smart shopper card by any person constitutes a criminal offence and Pick n Pay reserves the right to cancel such person’s membership and withhold all smart points from her/his account. Incorrect or invalid cards or card numbers will not be awarded smart points.

Being registered as a member of the smart shopper programme irrevocably signifies your agreement to the above Terms and Conditions.

smart shopper vouchers are issued by Pick n Pay to a pre-selected list of customers according to their buying behaviour during a specific period of time.

smart shopper vouchers are valid in all Pick n Pay stores in South Africa where the products that are the subject of the smart shopper vouchers are available, while stocks last.

smart shopper vouchers are valid for a period of time as determined by Pick n Pay. The relevant period of validation will be indicated on the smart shopper vouchers.

smart shopper vouchers must be scanned at the point of sale, together with the account owner’s smart shopper card.

smart shopper vouchers are to be used only by the smart shopper account owner and may not be transferred.

A smart shopper voucher can only be printed once. No reprints are available for vouchers.

A smart shopper voucher can only be used for one transaction – thereafter it will become invalid.

A smart shopper voucher will only be valid on a “while-stocks-last” basis.

Prescription medicines: dispensing fees (Department 1600) e.g. anti-biotics
