Use beef, pork or ostrich mince if you prefer.

Method
  • Preheat oven to 180ºC.
  • Heat a glug of oil in a pan and brown mince.
  • Add tomatoes and wine, cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Season.
  • Melt butter in a saucepan and add flour.
  • Cook for 1 minute.
  • Gradually add milk, beating well after each addition.
  • Cook until mixture forms a smooth sauce.
  • Season and grate over a little fresh nutmeg.
  • Spoon half the pasta into a large ovenproof dish.
  • Top with Swiss chard and mince.
  • Cover with remaining pasta.
  • Spoon over white sauce.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden and bubbling.


Great idea

  • Top with grated mozzarella or parmesan for a cheesy pasta.
