Method
  • Preheat oven to 200°C.
  • Heat oil in a medium-sized pot, add ground spices and cook for a minute.
  • Add onion and garlic and cook until transparent.
  • Add chicken and bay leaves and cook for a further 5 minutes.
  • Add soup mix, water, sago, salt, pepper and butter.
  • Reduce heat and cook gently until mixture is thick and creamy.
  • Remove from heat and cool.
  • Roll out pastry to about ½ cm thick. Cut out small rounds and place a teaspoon of mixture into the centre of each one.
  • Gently press a lid onto each parcel and brush with egg wash.
  • Cut 2 slits on top of each pie and scatter with sesame seeds.
  • Bake for 15 minutes or until puffed up, then reduce heat to 180°C and bake for a further 15-20 minutes or until golden and pastry is cooked through.
