Dragon and phoenix soup

This special soup is great for any occasion or celebration. The broccoli and carrot greatly boost the soup's nutritional content too!
  • Halve prawns lengthwise and pat dry with paper towel.
  • Mix half the cornflour and chilli powder together and toss with prawns. Set aside.
  • Cut chicken into 1cm pieces and set aside.


  • Stir together stock, soy sauce, sherry, oyster sauce and remaining cornflour.
  • Set aside.
  • Heat a glug of oil in a wok or large pan.
  • Stir-fry garlic for 15 seconds.
  • Add carrots and broccoli; stir-fry for 3 - 4 minutes, or until vegetables are crisp but tender.
  • Remove and set aside.
  • Add chicken to the hot wok.
  • Stir-fry for 2 - 3 minutes, or until cooked. Set aside.
  • Add prawns and stir-fry for 2 - 3 minutes.
  • Return chicken to wok. Add sauce and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Add vegetables and bamboo shoots and stir all ingredients to coat in sauce.
  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve with rice.
