Method
  • Cut a heart shape out of each slice of bread with a heart-shaped cookie cutter
  • Mix the cinnamon and castor sugar together
  • Dip each heart into beaten egg and shake off excess
  • Fry each heart in butter until golden all over. Drain on kitchen paper.
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and serve

 

Variations

  • Serve hearts with a warm berry sauce:
    Simmer 2 cups (250ml) frozen berries with ½ cup (125ml) of water and sugar to taste
    • Savoury option:
      Serve with grated cheddar cheese
