Method
  • Heat oil in a large saucepan 
  • Brown meat and set aside
  • Add onions to the saucepan and fry until soft
  • Toss in garlic and chilli and fry for a further minute
  • Add remaining ingredients to pan and simmer gently, adding more water if necessary, for about 1.5 -2 hours or until meat and beans are cooked through and tender
  • Season, stir through celery greens and serve


More ideas

  • Use beef shin in place of lamb
  • Try lentils, chickpeas or sugar beans as an alternative to haricot beans
